Careers Advisor for FE and HE
37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year, Fixed Term until 31st January 2023
£21,740 - £23,606 per annum, pro rata plus monthly holiday pay allowance
Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire and Wakefield.
We are now looking for a Careers Advisor to join us where you will support FE and HE students at the College. As well as working with all our FE students, you will work closely with our HE students to provide support and guidance in planning their next steps. This is a full time role, working 37 hours per week for 42 weeks a year. Based at York, the role may involve travel to our other sites.
Supporting students to make informed decisions, you will assess their values, interests, abilities and skills and relate these to opportunities for employment, further study and training. Advising on how to present effectively at interviews and cope with the transition from Further/Higher Education to their chosen route of progression, the role also involves promoting the key employability skills of students, including careers education within the curriculum.
We are looking for someone who has the appropriate qualification in CEIAG at Level 4 or above (or who is working towards this), coupled with experience in careers education and guidance. With an enthusiasm for working with student of all ages, you will have a coaching and mentoring aptitude and be highly organised, with a flare for organising engaging and exciting events. You will also have a keen eye for detail and a good level of written communication skills.
